First Night Monterey

Dear First Night'er,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends in Boston, home of the original First Night Festival which began over 35 years ago. First Night Boston, a signature Boston event, is the oldest and largest of its kind in North America, typically attracting about one million people from throughout the region. Many of their volunteers, like First Night Monterey's participate in other events like the Boston Marathon. We look to next year's marathon in Boston - for at First Night, we always look to the future and to bringing our community together!
Join us, this Thursday, April 18th at Pebble Beach for the FNM's tabletop at "A Table Affair" and on Saturday, April 20th when we celebrate Earth Day joining Save Out Shores with a beach clean up and a junkjam! Community, participation and art - while cleaning up our beaches!

A Table Affair
Tablescapes at Pebble Beach
Join Jayne Mohammadi, Board Director and Ellen Martin with Nina Parris, FNM artist, on Thursday, April 18th from 2:00-6:00 pm at the Pebble Beach Conference Center! We have designed a table around the FNM 2014 theme "SeaChanges" for this event hosted by the Pebble Beach Riding & Trail Association and the Pebble Beach Company. Gate fee will be waived and the event is free with refreshments, silent auction and cash bar.

Earth Day Beach Clean-Up and JunkJam
Celebrate, Clean Up the Beach, and Jam On the Junk!
Bring the entire family and join Save Our Shores on Earth Day at Del Monte Beach, April 20th,10:00am-Noon. FNM is joining in the beach clean up and hosting a junkjam! Volunteers are welcome to join in the jam and have some fun while helping clean up our beach. The jam will be taped and featured the following weekend when JunkMan Donald Knaack hosts a global JunkJam involving 11 sites throughout the world!

Summer Art Day Camp in Monterey
Three 2-week Sessions! Sign up Now!
An opportunity for youth
ages 7 - 12 to work with professional artists and learn drawing, painting, and gain a creative perspective for problem solving! Camp is Monday thru Friday from 9:30-4:00pm; extended supervison is available in the morning and afternooons until 5:30pm. Check the website for more information.

The third Sunday in August is roaring towards us and First Night will once again staff the RetroAuto tent at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. Sign up information is online, join us and get free admission to the Concours!

Our CSUMB student graphic design class members have presented their final designs for our 2014 poster and buttons, featuring the theme SeaChanges, highlighting the need to recycle and save our ocean environment.
