The Twilight Procession is a walking parade begins at

Portola Plaza and processes down Alvarado Street.

To submit a proposal: please send an email to info@firstnightmonterey.org with the following information

Groups can be from 5 to 25 people! - How many are you bringing? What are your costumes? Theme?

  • Include a short paragraph - Describe what you would see if you were watching your group in the parade
  • Last Chance deadline is Friday, December 16. Sign Up today! Fax or email your application in.
  • Don't forget the theme this year is "A FantaSea of Art!”

Who can apply?  (NO VEHICLES THIS YEAR!)

  • Walkers---Bands: rock, folk, gospel, marching, etc.
  • Jugglers, mimes and dancers
  • Neighborhood and community groups and non-profits
  • Arts Collectives
  • Student organizations
  • Anyone with an amazing idea worth sharing with the community

When and Where:

  • Saturday, December 31st, 2011– Historic Downtown Monterey, CA
  • Kid’s Night Out begins at 3pm on Colton Lawn at City Hall
  • The line up for Twilight Procession starts at Portola Plaza begins at 4:30pm
  • Twilight Procession begins at 5:30 pm heading down Alvarado Ave.

             

We look forward to seeing what you have in mind and helping to make it a reality.  We are a non-profit 501c3 dedicated to providing Monterey Peninsula with a free, inter-generationally programmed, family-friendly, alcohol-free, public celebration, showcasing the unique culture of Monterey County through expressive, creative traditions of performing and visual arts. First Night Monterey could use your ideas, support and participation to stay strong in this time of economic turbulence.

First Night Monterey 19th Year!!!

  This time honored "new tradition," family friendly and free New Year's Eve celebration seeks to commission you the artist to showcase your work. This year's theme is “A FantaSea of Art!” and we cannot wait to share the beautiful projects that have come forward.

First Night Monterey 2012 in partnership with the City of Monterey, offers artists opportunity to use Monterey’s historic downtown as a broad canvas.  

First Night Monterey is a public celebration of the arts that revives the ancient tradition of marking the passage of time with art, ritual and festivity. It is an annual free, family-friendly, inter-generationally programmed, non-alcoholic New Year's Eve celebration in Historic Downtown Monterey.
